I thought I would post my pictures of Curious Sofa's halloween displays that I took last week when I was back in Kansas. These are for www.ghoulsjustwannahavefun.blogspot.com 's Halloween Blog Party. Lots of fun posts will be seen today. Debbie's store was such a treat to walk thru. Her Halloween displays are so inventive and victorian looking. Such imagination! take a peek. If I was back there instead of here in Az, I would have been hanging out there today!
Yea!!! Cake and presents!! I love cake and presents!! I thought I would post a few pics of some past projects and maybe a few Halloween atc's to look at. My family has a little Birthday/Halloween party planned for me tonight. Yea!
This will be a little long, so grab a drink and sit back... I wanted to share a few photos of some of the things I found back in KC. I got the 2 coolest fabric covered pink hankie boxes at an estate sale. Got there a few days late, most of the good stuff was gone, but got those 2 boxes and a piece of jewelry for $3! I think I will use the hankie boxes for display at my next show. Then, at the Holiday Mart, where I could have blown my life savings(if I had any!) I picked up this cute little ornament(of course so I could make more just like it with my own style) It is made of metal rusty wire and the letters spell out LOVE, they are made of metal, too. SO cute! At another booth that was oh os pretty www.tommicrystal.com I got 3 different colors of tinsel from Bethany Lowe. Ooh, the things that will be made with this stuff! (Christmas ornaments flying thru my mind...)
At annettestouchofclass.com I picked up this cool shopping tote. I'll probably sell this at the Globe Fall Festival that I am participating in in 2 weeks. If you are in Arizona, it is a fun day and a nice 1 hour drive out of town. Here are some ornaments I picked up at Curious Sofa's booth.
Now, for the fun stuff I have been working on all week. Trying to get a few things made for a couple of shows I am in this month. A couple of beeswax canvases and old vintage bottles..Take a peek.
Then, I wanted to share with you all some Beeswax Collage Canvases that I made for my friends' daughters room. These measure about 11" X 14". I first glued down some French text pages and then got the cool prints from Target about a year ago, and adhered them down, and added a few embellishments(buttons, typewriter keys, and furniture studs). Then sealed it all in beeswax. The beeswax turns the text pages that cool vintage-yellow color and makes a cool sealer for it all. We hung them on her wall and they look great in her Paris themed room. Lots of chocolate browns and leather textures.
The only reason I even got to go to the Holiday Mart in Kansas was because of Debbie over at www.curioussofa.com posted a comment about it on her store's blog. The more I read about her preparation for the show, the more I wanted to go. I was just lucky enough to be in KS last weekend. Her store is one of my all time favorite stores- it is a must-see if you are in KS. Her both was decorated so lovely. The theme was an old world Christmas , religous style. Lots of ornate crosses, vintage decorated bottles, gold and ivory. Debbie's booth was the most well thought-out style of the whole event. SO much detail and care was put into the space. She even created a newsletter to hand out the new customers who had not frequented her shop. Here are few pics I took of her lovely space....
You can see lots more pics of her booth at the show on her blog www.curioussofa.blogspot.com. More pics of her shop decorated for Halloween tomorrow!
Here is a vendor that I met at the Holiday Mart in KC that I thought that you all might love as much as I did. Her booth was just amazing to walk through. I had more fun just looking at how she decorated it than what she was selling. Here is the website to her store www.annettestouchofclass.com. I also added it to the Eye candy list on the side of my typepad. The booth was so funky and junky-just my style! Take a look.
Her website is filled with great retro funky items... More pics tomorrow!!
On Saturday I was lucky enough to get to go to the Junior League of Kansas City Holiday Mart. My sweetie was nice enough to drop me off so I wouldn't have to hike 3 miles to park! Not fun. But it was so cool. I had never been to this event before or one like it. SO many vendors and people! I had so much fun just looking at all the different vendor booths. I didn't even care if I bought anything. Just admiring all the work that some of the vendors did to make their booths look like mini stores was amazing! I got so many ideas for my own vendor booth. I would love to come back to this show as a vendor, cha-ching!! Women were whipping out those wallets like crazy! I think one time I actually saw money flying in the air! Anyways ,here are some of the pics I took... I will post tomorrow some of the vendor names and websites I stopped at. I'm really tired....gotta .....go .... to ....sle e p.......
Back home with lots of pics from my trip to KC. I got to see so many fun places and the weather was great! Here are a few pics to get you started.....( gotta get to work, unfortunately) I'll post more later today and tomorrow.
The first picture is of a new antique store that opened up the day before I found it. It is called Good Ju Ju.( I think?) It is located near the Haunted Houses off of 12th St. downtown KC. The building itself is just fun to look at, old brick, old windows, wood floors, crumbling stuff here and there.
The second one is of the entrance that you see when you walk in. A nice little Fall vignette of gourds, squash, and vintage pieces.
The last picture is of the back of the store. Lots of little vignettes from different dealers. Trish(love the name), the owner, is a sweetheart and gave me a cool little childrens book cover. She could tell that we liked the same things. This was my quick little picture tour this morning. More to come......
Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get to travel!!!!!!!!!!!! I get really excited when I get to go on a plane to somewhere, anywhere than here, Arizona. I just love to travel, so any excuse is a good excuse, right??? Anyways, heading off to Kansas City again. I love that place. I think anywhere this time of year is beautiful. I probably won't be able to post anything for about a week, but I will try. Have a wonderful week!
