I hate going to high end stores and seeing stuff that other people or companies sell for ridiculous amounts of money, that I can make and sell for less than half the price. I saw at one of my favorite stores to snoop in a canvas picture of a crown print. It was pink for a little girls room and they were selling it for $75! AHHH! So, I took a mental picture and here is my rendition...
The canvases are 8X10. I inked and painted the canvas to get the color I was looking for. Then, stamped an Italian script image on the canvas and then adhered the crown images. I also added some flat back rose colored Swarovski crystals. Here is close up..
The colors on these canvases are so much prettier than they came out on these pics. Real rusty, cream, and chocolate brown colors. I am off to Joann to get more canvases to make more. WOuld like to try some in pink and French blue. I wanted to show these to show you all that there are so many ideas out there to make things with. No, it's not stealing an idea but getting a jump off point. Because if you saw the original that I based this off of, they are very different. I do this alot. I see something and then the idea takes its own form. We have to remind ourselves sometimes to look at things differently. I am going to try to make some more to sell on my etsy, soon!
I know, I know, it's barely the day after Christmas and I already have Valentines on my mind! I actually made this a few weeks ago but finally got it over to Nic at Stampworks and got myself signed up to teach a few of these classes. Here is the sample...
These are made on a canvas board, using some collage techniques and elements. You will learn how to use beeswax to layer your collages and seal your work with it. I love this stuff, it is so versatile. Fun class for $20. You can call Nic at Stampworks to sign up 480-899-5958.
Here is an ornament that I made for a friend. The wood laser cut cross is from Michaels. I have made several things with these. I just love them! The scanner took away some of the color. It looks so cool on the tree!
I received my Deck the Halls swap goodies a few days ago from Karin over at www.creativechaos.typepad.com. WOW! is all I can say! These gifts are so sweet and pretty! I love them all!! Thank you, thank you!
When I was back in Kansas City last week I got to go to Curious Sofa. My favorite store! If you have been reading my typepad for a awhile now, you will have heard me talk about it. Debbie, the owner does such a fabulous job of setting up beautiful vignettes within the store. Here are a few of the pics I took....
Here is the entrance to the store. It was a very brisk 20 degrees outside. It was so nice to walk around in her warm store!
There were so many things to look at and buy. My head was spinning!
I really wanted one of these ornate looking crowns but had to walk away.
I loved this book. Had to take a picture so I could drop some hints for Christmas! Or just buy later. It is really cute.
Sorry no posts for a few days. I was lucky enough to get a flight to Kansas before all the snow and ice showed up. Had a fun time as usual with my Sweetie. DIdn't get to go to too many FUN shops, mostly the Mall.I did get to go to Curious Sofa, my favorite shop of all. You can see Debbie's(Curious Sofa, owner) home in january's Country Living. Love it! Lots of ice and snow. Shopping in the snow is very challenging. Not much of that here in Arizona. These pics are from a large outdoor shopping center called Legends. Nice place. Got some great $5 tshirts from Old Navy.
Then, on Friday night we went down to the Plaza. Beautiful place, but oh so cold. We could only walk around one block before the 15 degree weather got the best of us. I really wanted to ride in the Cinderella horse carriage. ANother time-warmer time.
Karla over at www.karlascottage.typepad.com is having a little blog party about what you love about your holiday home. Here are a few pics of my favorite holiday decorations in my house that I have gathered thru the years.
I just picked up this really cool and large Happy Holidays sign. It measures about 6 feet long and 8 inches tall! I actually bought 2,so if anybody wants one let me know, it was only $20! It is made of metal so it stands perfect on its own.
Here are my favorite ornaments. I like them in this pretty bowl.
My Mom just picked up this sweet glittery Jolly sign for me from Macy's. So cute!
Here is my tree, its about 5ft tall. My house is kinda small, so my tree has to be accomadating to it. But my house is just the right size for me, I don't have time to clean what I have now.
Here are a few ornaments that are on it.
Update..Everybody loves these little wreaths so much I thought I should say where I got them...KMART! Yes, the big K! They are like 2.50! Happy shopping!
I am a HUGE Winnie the Pooh fan and I got this awesome animated Pooh about 10 years ago and just love it. It is probably my favorite item. His arm goes up and down and his head swivels back and forth.
This is another item that my Mom got for me, for my birthday. it is very Christmasy, but I keep it in my bedroom year round.
That's it for now. I gotto go to work to pay for more Christmas stuff!!
Every year I host a Gingerbread House making get-together with my family at my house. It is always so much fun because it is requires only FUN! No pressure, no dressing up(which I love to do), no huge amounts of money to be spent, just everybody together eating candy(oh, I mean, making Gingerbread houses,MOM!) Just kidding. Here are a few pics, I have way too many, but here are some good ones... Here is the before pic of the table with the candy I brought.
This is my Favorite vintage pink stripe bowl. It looks so pretty with the pastel marshmallows in it.
You always have to have the M&M's on a pretty jadite saucer.
If you have some elavated dishes of candy it makes it easier for little hands to get to.
Here is everybody hard at work. Let's see what came out of all this candy...
My niece Amaya, very hard at work.
My Moms' friends' daughter, ANgela. She was having so much fun! This is my goofy son Michael and his Army Gummi Bear Fort. The red ones are the enemy and the green are the army bears. I love it!
ANd here is mine, of course,PINK! pink frosting, frosted pretzel trees, coconut for snow, and red gummi bears kissing at the front door. aw, how cute!
My niece Monique's house. DOn't you love the marshmallow snowman?
